Q1 results slightly ahead of business plan

Sys-com, quoted on the Euronext's Second Marché (Bloomberg: SYS, Reuters : SYS.PA, Sicovam: 7519), a consulting and IT services company serving major corporate customers in the financial industry, reports consolidated sales growth of more than 32% in the first quarter of fiscal 2001/02. Quarterly results are commented below. |
- Consolidated revenues increased sharply in the first quarter of fiscal 2001/02, by more than 32% compared with the same period in the previous year (25.5% on a comparable structure basis).
- Operating profit was € 0.53 m, on a par with the year-earlier figure. The operating margin was therefore 6.2% of consolidated turnover, against 8.2% in Q1-2000/01. These figures, established in accordance with IASC standards, include a € 0.08 m provision for a dispute settled in an industrial court.
- Net attributable profit came to 4.7% of consolidated sales, compared with 7.01% in the year-earlier period, due to an exceptional capital gain of € 129,429 in Q1-2000/01.

Excluding capital gains, net profit stood at € 0.4 m, up 15% compared with Q1-2000/01.
Investors should bear in mind that our quarterly results are highly seasonal, as the first quarter corresponds to the summer months and traditionally contributes only a small proportion of annual earnings. |

All these results are in line with our business plan. |
|
In an already challenging economic environment, the events of 11 September had a negative impact on the financial industry. Faced with declining business volumes in IT services and corporate management consulting, coupled with the prospect of a slight erosion in rates charged for IT services, we have taken steps to maintain Sys-Com's revenue streams and profitability :
- We have increased our focus on facilities management, which is a source of material savings for clients, as well as on third-party maintenance and third-party software testing opportunities.
- We are taking aggressive cost control and headcount stabilisation measures.
Organisation consultancy, which accounts for 30.5% of Sys-Com's revenues, enjoyed excellent growth conditions during the period. |
